Consult & plan
A free consultation, then a CBCT scan and a 3D scan of your teeth to plan the implant.
Considering dental implants in Newport? Find out whether an implant is right for you. Start with a free consultation to discuss your suitability, treatment and individual costs.
A single tooth implant supports a replacement crown. If you are missing one or more teeth, a consultation can help you understand whether implant treatment is suitable.
Oral health, bone, medical history and healing all matter. Many people can have implants, but not everyone: medical history can rule them out, and some people need a bone or gum graft as part of treatment. Implant treatment involves surgery and has risks; these will be discussed with you before deciding on treatment.
The stages and timing depend on your needs. Your dentist will explain your individual plan.

For suitable cases, a surgical guide made from your digital plan directs the implant to its planned position.
Implant placement, usually about two weeks after planning, using the guided or non-guided technique selected for your case.
Healing and reviews come before the final restoration. Timing depends on your individual treatment.
Your dentist fits the planned crown and discusses ongoing care.

The practice uses up-to-date software and clinical planning, with guided and non-guided techniques selected for each case. Your teeth are scanned at the practice with an intraoral scanner, and for CBCT imaging you are referred to an external radiology service.

Many people are, but not everyone. Bone, gum health, medical history and healing all matter, and some medical conditions rule implants out. Some people need a bone or gum graft as part of treatment. Suitability is worked out at your consultation.
An examination, an X-ray to check your bone height, a review of your medical and dental history and a talk through your options. You get a written plan and quote. If you go ahead, a CBCT scan and a 3D intraoral scan of your teeth are used to plan the implant.
CBCT is a 3D X-ray of your jaw. It is done at an external radiology service, on referral from the practice. Your implant is then planned on the CBCT scan and a 3D scan of your teeth, with guided or non-guided techniques selected for your case.

Sometimes, for front teeth only, when the site suits it. This is called an immediate implant. Whether it is an option for you is assessed at consultation.
Placement is done under local anaesthetic, and medication before and after surgery helps reduce pain and the chance of infection. Some tenderness afterwards is normal. Your dentist will discuss what to expect and how to manage it.
It happens in stages: planning, placement, healing, then fitting the crown. Placement is usually about two weeks after planning, and healing comes before the crown. Your dentist will explain the timing for your treatment.
Typically a consultation, planning scans, placement, review visits during healing, then fitting the crown. A bone or gum graft, if needed, adds steps. The number depends on your case.
